Scam Alert

Date Posted: 10/07/2026
Category: General

The St. Francis County Sheriff's Office has recently become aware of individuals contacting family members of inmates and falsely claiming that, in exchange for payment through Cash App or other money transfer applications, they can guarantee the release of an inmate from jail.

The Sheriff's Office wants to make it clear that no private individual can guarantee an inmate's release in exchange for payment and any such request should be considered suspicious and potentially fraudulent.

Anyone who is contacted by a person making these claims is urged to immediately contact the St. Francis County Sheriff's Office and report the incident.  If possible, save any text messages, phone numbers, social media messages, or payment information associated with the contact.

The St. Francis County Sheriff's Office is investigating these reports and encourages the public to remain vigilant and avoid sending money to anyone claiming they can influence or guarantee an inmate's release.

For questions or to report information regarding this scam, please contact the St. Francis County Sheriff's Office.

The Sheriff Office Reminder: If you have any doubts about information regarding an inmate, contact the jail or the Sheriff's Office directly before sending money to anyone.
