On June 15, 2026, Forrest City officers arrested 25-year-old Austin Staggs after learning he was located at a residence on Jones Street in Forrest City.  When officers arrived at the residence, Staggs attempted to flee through the back door but was quickly taken into custody. He was wanted on charges of Residential Burglary (Class B Felony) and Theft of Property (Class C Felony).  The charges stem from a May investigation into a burglary at a residence in Widener, Arkansas. During the investigation, Staggs was identified as one of the individuals involved in the break-in.  According to the victim, he was alerted to suspicious activity when a neighbor called while he was at work to ask if anyone was supposed to be at his residence. After confirming that no one should have been there, the victim returned home and discovered that the residence had been forcibly entered. Several items with a total value exceeding $5,000 were reported stolen.  Investigators later learned that another neighbor had home surveillance footage capturing the incident, which helped identify the suspects involved.  Staggs is scheduled to appear in court today.
