SFC Resident Faces Weapon Charges

Richard Wayne McMaster 57 years-old of Forrest City was taken into custody yesterday without incident.  He is charged with Possession of a Firearm by a Certain Person, a Class B Felony.  The SFC Criminal Investigation Division opened an investigation after investigators received information that McMaster gave a firearm to an individual to have some gun smithing work done on the gun.  The individual, a licensed firearm dealer learned that McMaster was possible a convicted felon and met with investigators where he turned the gun over.  Investigators were able to determine that Richard McMaster was convicted in St. Francis Circuit Court back in 1991 where he was charged with Rape, Battery 1st Degree and Attempted Capital Murder.  Both the Rape and Battery charge were Nolle Pros but McMaster was sentenced to 10-years in the Arkansas Department of Corrections for the Attempted Murder charge.  McMaster is scheduled to appear before a judge today where a bond will be set in his case.
