Traffic Stop Leads to Drug and Firearm Arrest in Caldwell

On April 25, 2026, deputies with the St. Francis County Sheriff's Office conducted a traffic stop in the Caldwell area for a traffic violation.
The driver was identified as Jason Paulman, 52 years old, a resident of St. Francis County. During the stop, deputies determined that Paulman had an active warrant issued out of District Court and was also operating a vehicle with a suspended driver's license. Paulman was taken into custody without incident.
Deputies conducted an inventory search of the vehicle and located a loaded .22 caliber revolver under the driver's seat. Deputies also discovered a small baggie containing a white crystalline substance, which later field-tested positive for methamphetamine, along with two glass pipes used for ingestion.
Further investigation revealed that Paulman is a convicted felon, making it unlawful for him to possess a firearm.
Paulman was transported to and booked into the St. Francis County Jail on the following charges:
Possession of a Controlled Substance (Methamphetamine) - Class C Felony
Simultaneous Possession of Drugs and Firearm - Class Y Felony
Possession of a Firearm by Certain Person - Class B Felony
Possession of Drug Paraphernalia - Class D Felony
Proximity to Certain Facilities Enhancement, due to being within 1,000 feet of Caldwell City Park
Driving on a Suspended Driver's License
Paulman is scheduled to appear before a judge today, at which time bond will be set.
