On Monday, December 11, 2023, at around 12:36pm authorities received a call where Christopher Ponder, 44-year-old of Colt, AR had broken into a residence at 899 SFC 363.  The homeowner Sophia Ponder reported that Ponder, a relative broke into the home and took a suitcase and set the grass on fire and then left. While authorities were still investigating the call, they received a second call where a residence at 77 SFC 361 was broken into.  This is the residence of Haley McCain.  There the authorities discovered the front door had been kicked in and appeared the residence had been rummaged through.  Authorities located the same suitcase taken from the Ponder residence at the McCain residence and quickly identified Ponder as the person responsible for breaking into the McCain home.  Christopher Ponder was located down the road and was taken into custody without incident.  Ponder is charged with Residential Burglary and is scheduled to be arraigned today in St. Francis County District Court.
