Michael Glen Staggs, 53-years-old of Forrest City was taken into custody Saturday evening without incident.  Authorities received a tip that Staggs a fugitive was at the Walmart getting into a vehicle and the caller also provided a vehicle description.  Authorities located the vehicle at the Murphy gas station on Deadrick Road and took Staggs into custody.  Staggs was convicted in 2022 of Sexual Assault in the 2nd Degree and received a 10-year probation sentence.  Also, part of his sentencing requirements he was required to register with the State of Arkansas as a Sex Offender.  The last time Staggs did his verification was in October 2022, and in April 2023 Staggs did not come in for his six-month verification and an arrest warrant was issued for Failure to Comply with the Sex Offender Registry, a Class C Felony.  Staggs is scheduled to appear in St. Francis District Court where a bond will be set.  The Sheriff Department would like to thank the caller for providing that tip in getting a sexual predator back behind bars and asks the public help in locating other sexual predators that are posted our web site.
